ALEXANDER DANIELS are recruiting for a Senior Finance Assistant for an established business based in Wolverhampton (onsite). This role supports the Finance Manager in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the finance function. You will provide guidance and training to the Finance Assistant, assist with process improvements, and take ownership of key AR, AP, and reconciliation activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide structured support and training to the Finance Assistant to ensure high performance and capability within the team.
- Collaborate with the Finance Manager to enhance financial processes and maintain an efficient departmental workflow.
- Prepare and issue accurate sales invoices in line with company standards.
- Distribute customer statements and manage the timely collection of outstanding payments.
- Maintain the Accounts Receivable ledger and address customer queries promptly and professionally.
- Lead credit control activity to effectively reduce aged debt.
- Coordinate and process weekly and monthly supplier payment runs.
- Reconcile supplier statements to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Manage invoice-related queries with suppliers to maintain strong working relationships.
- Complete reconciliations for both customer and supplier accounts.
- Support month-end close procedures and contribute to financial reporting.
- Post bank transactions and perform accurate bank reconciliations.
- Provide informed responses to ad-hoc financial queries as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar finance role with strong transactional knowledge.
- Previous supervisory experience, with the ability to support and oversee junior team members.
- Demonstrated experience in training and developing new staff.
- Proficiency in finance systems, with the ability to learn and adapt to new platforms quickly.
