ALEXANDER DANIELS are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant for a business based in Birmingham. This role offers an opportunity for you to take on a role that is rounded with a variation of tasks. The successful candidate must have previous experience in a similar role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Finance in the day to day bookkeeping.
  • Processing accruals, prepayments, depreciation and monthly & year end journals.
  • Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers, including postings and account reconciliations.
  • Reporting on debtors and creditors and delivering and dealing with invoice queries/disputes.
  • Completing Balance sheet, Control Accounts, Bank & Company Credit Cards reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Reviewing & Submitting VAT and annual returns, reconciling to the accounting system.
  • Assist with the yearend process and liaise with external auditors as required.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Essential requirements:

  • AAT Qualified or active studier.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Experience in Xero (Desirable).
  • Previous experience in a similar role (1-2 years).

This role is largely remote but requires you to attend the office 1 day a week.
