The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager is accountable for the organisation’s financial planning, forecasting and forward-looking analysis, ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of care services. The role provides strategic financial insight to the Executive Team and Board, supported by a Finance Business Partner.
Key Accountabilities
- Financial Planning
- Own the budget framework, assumptions and planning timetable.
- Lead forecasting, reforecasting and scenario modelling.
- Own medium- and long-term financial plans.
- Insight & Decision Support
- Provide forward-looking analysis on risks, sustainability and strategic options.
- Lead financial modelling for business cases, investments and service changes.
- Translate financial analysis into clear recommendations.
- Business Partnering
- Act as senior finance partner to the Executive Team and Directors.
- Develop business partnering capability through the Finance Business Partner role.
- Interfaces with Management Accounting: incorporates operational insight.
- Financial Accounting: relies on final actuals only.
Experience Required
- Extensive experience in FP&A within a complex, multi-site organisation.
- Proven leadership of annual budgeting, reforecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
- Strong modelling and scenario planning capability, including sensitivity analysis.
- Experience supporting strategic decision-making at Executive and Board level.
- Ability to translate financial and operational data into clear, insightful narratives and recommendations.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience analysing cost drivers, margins, and performance trends.
- Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting frameworks.
Desirable
- Experience in not-for-profit, health or social care environments.
- Experience in workforce planning, occupancy modelling, and capacity analysis.
- Experience leading or implementing FP&A system improvements or BI tools.
- Involvement in M&A analysis or capital investment evaluation.
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
- Strong grounding in accounting standards.
