An established real estate asset manager with a multi-billion-pound UK and European portfolio is seeking a commercially focused Portfolio Accountant to partner with Asset Management and oversee the full financial lifecycle of assets — from acquisition through to exit. This is a high-exposure role within a matrix structure, acting as the key financial lead across stakeholders, third-party providers and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Review property reporting packs prepared by local service providers
- Oversee bookkeeping and ensure compliance with IFRS and UK GAAP
- Monitor NOI, capex, intercompany reconciliations and debt covenants
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Coordinate statutory accounts and audit processes
- Prepare and review consolidations and group reporting
- Cash & Treasury Management
- Approve payments and oversee cash flow management
- Manage distributions and cash repatriation to investors
- Monitor debt facilities and liaise with banks and agents
- Provide financial analysis to Asset Management
- Support acquisitions, disposals and asset onboarding
- Manage third-party relationships and performance
- Tax & Compliance
- Liaise with external tax advisors on structuring and compliance
- Review VAT/CIS returns and ensure SPV filing compliance
- Support risk management and continuous improvement initiatives
Candidate Profile
- 2+ years PQE (or 5+ years relevant experience)
- Real estate, fund or portfolio accounting background
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
- Confident working with external providers and senior stakeholders
- Proficient in Excel and accounting systems (Yardi essential)
- A hands-on, detail-driven professional with strong ownership mindset and the ability to operate effectively under pressure will thrive in this role.
