Financial Controller Technology £85,000 plus bonus plus LTIP (to be defined)
Based in central London my client is a Private Equity Backed Technology group with an exciting and market leading product and is looking for a Financial Controller. The role reports to the CFO and will allow her time to focus on acquisitions and investor relations.
The Financial Controller will take full ownership of the day-to-day finance operations, statutory compliance, financial reporting, and month-end close for the SaaS business. Operating as the operational right-hand to the CFO you will ensure the financial integrity of the company, scale accounting processes, manage subscription-based revenue recognition (e.g., ASC 606 / IFRS 15), and track core SaaS metrics (ARR, MRR, churn, gross margins)

- Own and manage the end-to-end accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Deliver an accurate, structured, and fast month-end close (targeting Day 5 ) with complete balance sheet reconciliations (bank, deferred revenue, accruals, prepayments, and intercompany).
- Oversee and optimize the financial ledger
2. SaaS Revenue Recognition & Billing Compliance
- Manage subscription revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP/IFRS standards (e.g., deferred and unbilled revenue schedules).
- Partner with Customer Success and Sales operations to ensure billing, invoicing, and contract terms align with recognized revenue.
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, board packs, and variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget/Forecast).
- Track and report key SaaS operational metrics: Monthly/Annual Recurring Revenue (MRR/ARR), Net Revenue Retention (NRR), Customer Churn, LTV, and CAC payback periods.
- Support annual budgeting, 13-week cash flow forecasting, and long-term financial modelling.
4. Statutory Compliance, Audit & Tax
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with local tax obligations (VAT, PAYE, corporation tax, R&D tax credit claims).
- Strengthen internal financial controls, approval workflows, and segregation of duties.
5. Team Leadership & Business Partnering
- Hire, mentor, and develop junior finance and transactional staff as the company scales.
- Provide commercial and operational insights to department heads (Product, Engineering, Sales) to manage burn rate and unit economics.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA
- Sector Experience: Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager within a B2B SaaS, tech, or high-growth scale-up environment.
- Technical SaaS Knowledge: Deep understanding of subscription revenue models, deferred revenue accounting, and SaaS metrics.
- Systems Proficiency: Strong experience with modern cloud accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Xero, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) and billing/CRM tools
- Growth Mindset: Hands-on mentality combined with strategic ambition to grow into a future Finance Director role.
- Stakeholder Skills: Confident communicating financial data and risk to non-finance executives, founders, or PE/VC investors.
