Working within the Engineering team and supporting the Senior Electronics Test Engineer with new product testing development for rechargeable battery solutions. We’re looking for a candidate with a creative and innovative mindset, to design and develop new custom automated test equipment, assist with the maintenance of existing equipment, work with test technicians and collaborate with other departments in NPI and PFMEA processes for new products.
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Electronics Test Engineer with a strong background in electrical and electronic engineering, ideally supported by hands-on experience in a manufacturing or test environment. The successful candidate will combine excellent technical skills, particularly in creating software to control automated test equipment, troubleshooting, strong problem-solving ability and a structured approach to work. They will be an organised and motivated individual who communicates clearly, adapts well to change, and enjoys collaborating across engineering, NPI production, and quality teams to deliver reliable solutions and continuous improvements.
Responsibilities- Test Design & Execution
- Design and execute test plans for new battery products under development.
- Develop test specifications in line with customer requirements and SPQP standards.
- Conduct failure mode analysis and support prevention activities to improve product reliability.
- Design, develop, and validate new test equipment and fixtures to support battery pack manufacture.
- Maintain and improve existing test equipment and fixtures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.
- Manage version control of compiled firmware (hex files) and provide support for programming fixtures.
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support to Production Engineering.
- Deliver ongoing training, mentoring, and guidance to technicians.
- Actively contribute to PFMEA activities and provide testing input into the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
- Verify and validate test equipment and fixtures against the test plan in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with quality management systems and company procedures.
- Prepare clear, detailed test reports and communicate results effectively to both internal teams and external customers.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a combination of the following:
- Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (BEng) or equivalent relevant qualification/experience.
- Previous experience in a similar test engineering role within electronics or manufacturing.
- Strong programming skills in controlling test equipment, All languages considered, LabVIEW is currently the primary tool, with established VI library. Knowledge of Python, C, C++ or C# would be an advantage.
- Experience in training AI LLUs to support in the building of test applications.
- Experience using SQL databases for test data acquisition and analysis.
- Excellent IT skills across a range of applications.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting ability, both on test equipment and on electronic products.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to prioritise effectively and work flexibly in response to changing circumstances and demands.
