Our client in water is seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects across a broad programme of work. This long‑term contract offers the opportunity to play a key role in developing, reviewing, and coordinating civil engineering designs within a fast‑paced, essential services environment. Hybrid working is available, with regular presence required at the Chatham office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce, review, and develop civil engineering designs for water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Prepare design calculations, technical drawings, and specifications in line with industry and regulatory standards
  • Support feasibility assessments, optioneering, and early‑stage technical input
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, and delivery functions
  • Ensure all designs consider buildability, cost efficiency, safety, and sustainability
  • Manage and coordinate design documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide technical support during construction, resolving design queries and responding to RFIs
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with CDM, company policies, and water sector standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design methods and engineering processes
