An established UK infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join their AMP8 framework delivery team. You will take a leading role managing a major water treatment upgrade project in London, overseeing the construction of a new Rapid Gravity Treatment Plant and associated works on an operational clean water treatment site.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will hold full accountability for day-to-day site operations, with responsibility spanning safety, programme, commercial and quality. This is a hands-on leadership role managing a site team and supply chain on a technically complex water sector project.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of site operations including supervision of the site team and supply chain
- Plan, monitor and control programme, coordinating multiple packages of work concurrently
- Take ownership of costs for your allocated section of works in conjunction with the commercial team
- Capture and manage all changes in scope across operations, commercial, programme and design
- Conduct regular H&S checks and CDM audits; ensure RAMS, Permit to Work and induction systems are in place
- Attend client and stakeholder meetings, building effective working relationships
- Ensure all works are carried out to the latest design information with strict quality control maintained
- Identify temporary works requirements and undertake value engineering solutions
- Report on progress and performance to the Project Manager and assist with cost forecasting and reporting
- Lead and develop direct reports, conducting annual PDRs and monitoring team competency
Requirements
Essential qualifications & certifications:
- HNC or higher in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
- SMSTS
- CSCS
- EUSR National Water Hygiene
- EUSR 1 & 2 Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
- First Aid
- Fire Marshal
Skills & experience:
- Proven experience managing multiple or large packages of civil works on live sites
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and CDM 2015 regulations
- Commercially astute with the ability to manage cost, programme and change effectively
- Experience of M&E works on water or utilities projects
- Water industry background – treatment works experience is highly advantageous
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and schedules
- Strong leadership, delegation and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Office 365; CAD familiarity an advantage
