An established engineering and manufacturing business operating within specialist industrial systems is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its growing workshop and installation team. This position will involve the assembly, installation, testing and maintenance of bespoke engineered equipment used across a range of technical manufacturing environments.
The successful candidate will work closely with mechanical, production and engineering teams to support the build and integration of complex mechanical systems, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Mechanical assembly of engineered systems, sub-assemblies and industrial equipment
- Installation and routing of pipework, pneumatic lines and mechanical components
- Working with materials including stainless steel, mild steel and copper
- Supporting the integration of valves, manifolds, pumps and associated mechanical systems
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and assembly documentation
- Carrying out mechanical inspections, testing and fault finding activities
- Supporting pressure and leak testing of completed systems and assemblies
- Assisting with workshop builds, customer installations and on-site engineering activities where required
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, quality and health & safety within the workshop environment
- Previous experience working within a mechanical fitting, assembly or industrial engineering environment
- Experience working with pipework, valves, pumps or pneumatic systems
- Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings
- Strong mechanical assembly and problem-solving skills
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment
- Comfortable working within quality-driven manufacturing environments
- Flexible approach with a willingness to support wider engineering activities when required
- Brazing or basic welding experience
- Experience working with pressure systems or industrial machinery
- Forklift, overhead crane or MEWP licences
- Experience supporting customer site installations or maintenance work
