We are working with an innovative and rapidly growing space company in California that is developing next-generation spacecraft and mission systems. Following continued growth, they are looking to add a Senior Systems Engineer to their team.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in the development of complex space systems, working across the full lifecycle from concept and architecture through to integration, testing, and mission execution.
The Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for defining system requirements, driving technical decisions, and ensuring successful integration across multiple engineering disciplines. You will work closely with teams across GNC, Flight Software, Avionics, Mechanical, Electrical, and Mission Operations to deliver high-performance spacecraft and mission-critical systems. The position offers significant technical ownership and the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of cutting-edge space technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage system-level requirements and technical specifications
- Develop spacecraft and mission system architectures
- Lead requirements decomposition, verification, and validation activities
- Conduct trade studies and technical assessments
- Coordinate across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Support integration, testing, and flight readiness activities
- Identify and manage technical risks throughout the development lifecycle
- Support design reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and FRR
- Ensure system performance meets mission objectives and customer requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- Proven experience within the aerospace, defense, or space industry
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
- Experience developing complex spacecraft, satellite, launch vehicle, or mission-critical systems
- Experience with requirements management and system verification activities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
