The Role
As a Principal Engineer, you’ll lead the design assurance and as-built engineering activities across major HS2 work packages. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that constructed works are accurately captured, validated, and reflected in final design records, working closely with site teams, designers, and digital delivery specialists.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the review and validation of as-built designs across heavy civils packages (earthworks, structures, drainage, etc.)
- Provide technical oversight and assurance to ensure compliance with HS2 standards and specifications
- Coordinate with construction and site teams to resolve design discrepancies and engineering challenges
- Support the production of as-built models, drawings, and engineering documentation
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to technical best practice
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information handover
What We’re Looking For
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
- Significant experience in heavy civils design (rail, highways, structures, civils and major infrastructure)
- Strong understanding of as-built processes and design assurance
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects (HS2 experience highly desirable)
- Proficiency with relevant design tools within Bentley Environments
- Excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills
