A major contractor within the UK water and infrastructure sector is looking for a Senior Design Manager to take a leading role in the delivery of complex, multi‑disciplinary water treatment and network upgrade projects. This is a chance to work on schemes that directly support cleaner, more resilient water services for communities across the UK.
The Role
You’ll oversee the full design lifecycle, coordinating internal teams and external consultants to ensure innovative, compliant, and efficient design solutions. Working at the centre of major AMP programmes, you’ll bring together civil, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering input to keep projects aligned, buildable, and on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design development across water treatment and infrastructure projects
- Manage multi‑disciplinary design teams, ensuring integration and technical accuracy
- Oversee design governance, approvals, change control and compliance with industry standards
- Work closely with delivery and commercial teams to support buildability, cost efficiency and risk management
- Engage directly with clients, regulators and supply chain partners to maintain clear design intent
- Champion innovation, sustainable solutions and best practice in digital delivery (BIM)
About You
- Experienced Design Manager or Senior Design Engineer with a background in water, utilities, or complex civil engineering
- Strong understanding of the design process from concept to construction
- Able to coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams and manage competing priorities
- Confident communicator who can influence, challenge and drive design quality
- Familiar with industry standards, CDM, and digital design approaches
