We’re partnering with a leading engineering contractor delivering a multi-billion-pound water framework, who are now looking to appoint a Construction Director to their senior leadership team. This is a key operational leadership role, responsible for overseeing the delivery of multiple water and wastewater construction projects across the framework. Based out of the Peterborough office, the position offers flexible working and plays a critical part in shaping the long-term strategy and performance of the programme.
The role
- Provide senior operational leadership across a portfolio of live water infrastructure projects
- Set and drive construction strategy in line with framework objectives, safety, quality and commercial outcomes
- Lead, mentor and develop construction and project leadership teams across multiple sites
- Ensure best-practice construction methods are applied across utility projects, maintaining up-to-date technical and regulatory knowledge
- Work closely with commercial, planning, design and client teams to align delivery with programme and cost expectations
- Represent construction at senior leadership and framework governance level, influencing long-term decision-making
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in a Construction Director / Operations Director / Senior Operations Manager role within engineering or utilities
- Strong background delivering water or utility infrastructure projects for a contractor
- Demonstrable operational leadership experience, managing large teams and complex project portfolios
- Still hands-on enough to understand modern construction practices, site realities and delivery challenges
- Strategic mindset, with the credibility to operate as part of a senior leadership team on a major framework
