A leading contractor within the UK water sector is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team on a permanent basis. This organisation delivers major water and wastewater infrastructure projects and has a strong pipeline of secured work across current and upcoming AMP programmes. This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering essential infrastructure that improves water quality, enhances environmental sustainability, and supports communities across the region.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead mechanical design activities across a portfolio of water and infrastructure projects. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering technically robust, cost-effective, and buildable design solutions from concept through to commissioning. The role is based in Chatham, Kent, with flexible hybrid working available.
Key Responsibilities:- Leading mechanical design packages on water and wastewater projects
- Producing and reviewing design calculations, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation
- Coordinating with civil, electrical, and process engineering teams
- Supporting project delivery teams to ensure designs are practical and aligned with construction requirements
