We are currently recruiting for an experienced

Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing team delivering projects across the water and wider process sectors .

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work across multiple water industry frameworks , contributing to a varied portfolio of projects from design through to delivery.

You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams, supporting the delivery of high-quality mechanical solutions while collaborating closely with Process, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA), and Civil Engineering disciplines.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical design activities in accordance with the company's

Business Management Systems (BMS), CDM Regulations and relevant industry standards .

Your responsibilities will include

  • Producing mechanical designs and technical documentation across a range of water and process projects.
  • Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary

PMEICA and Civils design teams .

  • Supporting the development and delivery of designs across multiple water industry frameworks.
  • Providing technical input and support throughout the procurement and supply chain process.
  • Supporting construction and site activities where required, providing technical assistance during project delivery.
  • Reviewing and coordinating designs produced by consultants and subcontractors .
  • Ensuring designs are technically compliant, constructible and delivered in accordance with project requirements.
  • Supporting project teams with technical problem-solving and design development.
  • Working in accordance with relevant health, safety, environmental and quality requirements , including CDM 2015.

About You

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in the process industry , ideally with experience within the water sector.

You will ideally have

  • HNC, HND or Degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience working within the process industry – essential .
  • Previous water industry experience – highly desirable .
  • A sound understanding of relevant health and safety legislation, including the

Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and CDM 2015 .

  • An understanding of subcontractor processes, including basic contractual and commercial principles.
  • An appreciation of project management principles, including programme management, resource planning and financial/cash-flow awareness .
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the confidence to engage with clients, consultants, subcontractors and the wider supply chain.
  • A proactive approach to design development and technical problem-solving.
  • A willingness to work towards membership of a relevant professional institution, such as
