Our client is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater design projects. This is a technical, project‑focused role working closely with Principal Engineers, Design Managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compliant and high‑quality designs. You may also provide technical oversight and mentoring to other engineers and contribute to engineering governance and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver robust civil engineering designs to a high standard within the water and wastewater sector
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure seamless integration across all disciplines
- Provide technical guidance and review of design outputs, calculations and reports
- Support design assurance, governance and compliance with health, safety and quality management systems
- Contribute technical input to procurement and supply‑chain activities
- Provide engineering support to construction and site teams when required
- Engage with discipline leadership to support knowledge sharing, mentoring and development of junior and early‑career engineers
- Attend design reviews, progress meetings and site meetings as needed
About You
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong experience in UK municipal water and wastewater projects
- Background working with water end clients
- Solid civil design experience covering gravity and pressurised systems, tanks, chambers and treatment assets
- Good commercial awareness within a consultancy or contracting environment
- Chartered or working towards chartership
- Understanding of hydraulics and hydraulic calculations
- Exposure to water‑retaining structures and RC detailing (not essential)
- NEC contract familiarity
- Confident communicator with experience engaging directly with clients
- Ability to lead, coordinate and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
