A major contractor within the UK water and infrastructure sector is recruiting a Contract Associate to support the delivery of a newly secured flagship project with Thames Water. This role is ideal for someone with a strong engineering background who has developed solid commercial and contractual expertise, particularly under NEC contracts.
The Role
- You’ll work closely with senior commercial, engineering and delivery teams to manage NEC contract administration across a large and complex programme of work.
- With a strong grounding in engineering, you’ll bring a practical, technically informed perspective to contract management, ensuring risks are identified early, change is managed effectively, and the project remains commercially robust.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the management of NEC contracts across a major Thames Water project.
- Coordinate early warnings, change control, compensation events and programme updates.
- Maintain robust contract records, risk registers and cost reporting information.
- Work closely with engineering and delivery teams to ensure technical changes are accurately captured and reflected contractually.
- Assist with subcontract administration, procurement activities and commercial governance.

About You
- Engineering professional (civil, mechanical, electrical or similar) who has progressed into contract or commercial management.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts, ideally within water, utilities or large-scale infrastructure.
- Able to interpret technical information and understand how design, programme and construction changes influence contractual obligations.
- Detail-driven, analytical and comfortable managing complex documentation.
- Confident communicator who can work across multi-disciplinary teams and influence project outcomes.
- Degree-qualified in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
