The Opportunity
We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Assistant Project Manager to join a growing team delivering essential municipal infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced Project Managers, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of civil engineering projects from planning through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their project management career within a highly regulated infrastructure environment. Whilst experience within the water sector would be advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates with experience across civil engineering, highways, utilities, infrastructure, construction, rail, energy or other related sectors.
The Role
As Assistant Project Manager, you will support the delivery of a portfolio of municipal water infrastructure projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and within budget. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Project Managers with the planning and delivery of multiple projects.
- Coordinating site activities, subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Monitoring project progress, costs and programme performance.
- Assisting with project reporting, forecasting and risk management.
- Supporting commercial and contractual processes.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and operational teams.
- Contributing to project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Experience working within civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities or construction projects.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- An understanding of project delivery principles, including programme, cost and risk management.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
- An understanding of NEC contracts.
- Relevant engineering, construction or project management qualifications (HNC, HND, Degree, PMF/PMQ, APM or equivalent) would be beneficial.
