An established engineering and infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Senior SHEQ Advisor to support a major water sector framework in Scotland. This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative project environment, providing senior-level SHEQ guidance and support across a diverse portfolio of projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, supporting operational teams, and helping to maintain high standards of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, and Sustainability performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level SHEQ advice and support across project and operational teams.
- Promote best practice in SHEQ risk management and performance improvement.
- Support the development, implementation, and continual improvement of SHEQ policies, procedures, management systems, and risk controls.
- Plan, coordinate, and support SHEQ assurance audits and inspections.
- Lead or support accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and improvement actions.
- Work closely with project delivery teams to understand operational challenges and provide practical SHEQ solutions.
- Engage collaboratively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to promote positive SHEQ outcomes.
- Support project teams throughout the project delivery lifecycle.
- Identify opportunities for sustainable and innovative solutions.
- Analyse SHEQ performance data, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Support the maintenance and continual improvement of externally certified management systems.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working within a SHEQ function, ideally in construction, engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or a related sector.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret large volumes of data while maintaining data integrity.
- Experience identifying trends, producing reports, and communicating findings effectively.
- Good understanding of relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation and approved codes of practice.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence interacting at all organisational levels.
- Sound judgement and decision-making ability, including knowing when to escalate issues appropriately.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Flexible approach to travel, site attendance, and working locations as required.
