We’re working with a growing engineering business operating across the space and defence sectors who are looking for an Electronics Design & Test Engineer to join their team in Glasgow.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across the full electronics lifecycle, from initial design and prototyping through to testing, integration and final validation. You’ll get exposure to a wide range of technology including flight and ground electronics, PCB design, wiring harnesses, instrumentation, data acquisition and power distribution.
What you'll be doing
- Designing electronic hardware across analogue, digital and power electronics
- Producing schematics and PCB layouts
- Designing wiring harnesses and interconnects
- Building, testing and debugging prototypes
- Supporting PCB bring-up and troubleshooting
- Creating and running hardware verification and validation test plans
- Working with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analysers and other lab equipment
- Supporting instrumentation and data acquisition for major test campaigns
- Analysing test results and feeding findings back into design improvements
- Working closely with mechanical, software and systems engineers
- Supporting design reviews and producing technical documentation
What we're looking for
Ideally, you’ll have 5–10 years' experience in electronics design, preferably within space, aerospace, defence or another complex electro-mechanical environment.
You should have strong experience with:
- Analogue, digital and power electronics
- Schematic capture and PCB layout using tools such as Altium Designer or Zuken E3
- Hands-on electronics testing and debugging
- PCB manufacturing, soldering/rework and wiring harnesses
- Electronics manufacturing and IPC standards
- Developing products for challenging operational environments
- Taking electronic products through the full development lifecycle
Experience with EMC testing, RF/telemetry, LabVIEW, SCADA, embedded C, aerospace wiring or environmental testing would be beneficial but isn't essential.
You’ll need to be a UK national and eligible to obtain and maintain UK security clearance/BPSS.
