Job Description
Buyer
We are working witha UK-based launch vehicle provider focused on delivering sustainable access to space. It designs and builds launch vehicles in house, supporting the growing small satellite market and contributing to the long-term development of UK orbital launch capability.
About the Role
The organisation has seen increased operational activity over the last year, resulting in the team growing. They are seeking a Buyer to join on a long term, fixed contract.
Based from their facility near Glasgow and reporting to the Procurement Lead, the main focus of this role is to maintain and improve supply chain processes, managing purchases, and developing strong relationships with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Manage purchase orders, discrepancies, and invoice issues
- Work with the accounts team to process purchases
- Manage goods inwards/outwards and inventory
- Monitor and improve performance using purchasing metrics
- Ensure continuity of supply through effective supplier management
- Support improvements to part quality, delivery lead times, and cost effectiveness
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and manage competing deadlines
- Proven ability to plan and deliver short- and long-term tasks on schedule
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in a fast-paced technical environment
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a supply chain, procurement, or buying role
- Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, or aerospace environment
- Familiarity with AS:9100 or other quality management systems
- ERP system experience
- Experience managing suppliers and supporting contract relationships
