Overview
I am currently working with Hedge fund that is looking for mid-level Linux Systems Engineer. This role is part of a Storage Engineering team supporting a new HPC environment, with a focus on platform integration, compliance testing, and process documentation to ensure operational and security standards are met.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years Linux engineering (RHEL/Ubuntu) with strong Bash plus Python or Go.
- Deep AWS experience: EC2, AMI creation, block-device mapping, Launch Templates, Auto Scaling Groups, EBS, and encryption.
- Experience with Packer for image baking and Ansible for idempotent configuration.
- Familiarity with cloud-init/user-data, immutable server principles, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins).
- Experience with configuration management, monitoring, and observability tools (Prometheus, Alertmanager, Victoria Metrics/Logs).
- Practical security hardening skills (CIS benchmarks, SSH hardening, KMS, SSM Session Manager).
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years experience with enterprise storage technologies.
- Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, or equivalent).
- Experience with containerized storage solutions (Docker volumes, Kubernetes persistent volumes).
- Familiarity with cloud storage services (AWS S3).
- Exposure to virtualization technologies (VMware) and performance/network troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of advanced AMI tooling and compliance scanning (EC2 Image Builder, Testinfra/Molecule, Trivy, InSpec).
