Alecto Recruitment is currently supporting a well-established recycling and waste management company in Sheffield with the appointment of an experienced Transport Manager, Fleet Manager, or Logistics Manager to oversee their busy transport operation. This opportunity would suit a hands-on Transport Supervisor, Operations Manager, or experienced CPC Holder looking to take the next step within a fast-paced environment where organisation, leadership, and operational control are essential.
The successful Transport Manager will be responsible for managing drivers, coordinating skip and haulage movements, maintaining compliance, and ensuring the transport department operates efficiently day-to-day.
Key Responsibilities- Managing the daily operation of the transport and logistics department
- Coordinating skip collections, deliveries, and vehicle movements
- Supervising drivers and monitoring performance
- Planning routes and schedules to maximise fleet efficiency
- Ensuring compliance with transport legislation and health & safety standards
- Working closely with the in-house workshop and fleet maintenance teams
- Handling operational and customer issues quickly and professionally
- Supporting continuous improvement across the transport operation
- CPC qualification essential
- Previous experience as a Transport Manager, Fleet Manager, Logistics Manager, or similar
- Strong background within haulage, recycling, waste management, or logistics
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Good IT skills including Outlook and transport management systems
- Ability to work under pressure within a busy transport environment
- Full UK driving licence
- Competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
