This is a rare opportunity with one of the UK's most respected independent fire engineering consultancies where it has grown from two founding members just over 10 years ago, to a team of over 130 technical experts across eight UK offices. It is an employee-owned business, which shapes everything about how it operates so there is genuine investment in people, and a culture that consistently backs up the reputation.

They are looking for a Senior Fire Engineer with a specialism in active fire protection systems to join the team in Manchester, although other locations in the UK will be considered.

The Role

You’ll be leading and managing projects across the full active fire protection spectrum to include conceptual design, performance specifications, options studies, site inspections, and technical reporting. Systems knowledge required spans sprinkler (BS EN 12845, BS 9251, LPC Rules), water mist (BS 8458, BS 8489, BS EN 14972), gaseous suppression (BS EN 15004), and wet and dry fire mains (BS 9990). Alongside the technical delivery, you’ll coordinate with other engineering disciplines, provide guidance to colleagues, contribute to training, and play a role in business development and bid activity.

What They Need

  • Proven experience across active fire protection systems in a consultancy, construction, or property environment.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Fire Engineering, or a related discipline is suitable, as are industry-recognised qualifications or IFE/CIBSE membership.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, or Revit expected.
  • Strong communication skills, sound commercial awareness, and the ability to manage a varied workload independently are all essential.
