Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full legislative, environmental, and safety compliance across multiple landfill gas and renewable energy sites.
- Carry out day-to-day operational monitoring, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on gas engines, gas fields, and associated plant equipment.
- Respond promptly to reactive breakdowns and complete planned preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and optimise asset performance.
- Undertake generator commissioning, exchange, configuration, and optimisation activities.
- Inspect, maintain, and fault-find on mechanical, electrical, and LV electrical systems.
- Support gas field optimisation to maintain safe gas control, stable operation, and sustainable fuel quality.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota (currently 1 in 7 weekends).
- Complete environmental activities including air emissions monitoring, spill response, and compliance reporting.
- Effectively manage travel, workload, and operational costs across multiple sites.
- Work collaboratively with internal technical specialists to resolve complex engineering and operational challenges.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in landfill gas, gas engines, CHP, power generation, utilities, or similar heavy-process environments.
- Good understanding of environmental legislation, compliance, and operational controls.
- Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working independently across multiple remote locations.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability in field-based engineering roles.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
- Holds a mechanical or electrical engineering qualification.
- Willing and able to travel frequently and manage work across multiple sites.
