A hands-on Engineering Supervisor working within the inspection, testing and NDT industry, overseeing engineering activities across lifting equipment, structural components, mechanical systems and safety-critical assets. The role blends workshop leadership with regular field-based work, ensuring inspections, tests and engineering tasks are completed safely, accurately and to industry standards.

Suitable for an experienced supervisor or a skilled fitter/engineer ready to step up into a leadership role while remaining technically involved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field inspections - carry out on-site examinations, NDT testing, structural assessments and mechanical inspections
  • Team supervision - support, guide and coordinate engineers across workshop and field operations
  • Work allocation - plan daily workloads, assign jobs and ensure timely completion
  • Technical support - assist engineers with complex inspections, fault-finding and technical queries
  • Compliance & safety - ensure all work meets LOLER, PUWER, NDT, structural testing and safety-critical engineering standards
  • Quality assurance - maintain high standards of reporting accuracy, inspection detail and engineering integrity
  • Customer interaction - communicate professionally with clients, provide updates and resolve issues
  • Documentation - complete inspection reports, certificates, job sheets and digital records
