Β£17.66 per hour - 37 hours per week - 5 Month Initial Contract (potentially extending with a view to go permanent)
Location - Oxted - Surrey
Hybrid working: 4 days on-site, 1 day from home (with greater flexibility once established)
Alecto Recruitment is currently seeking a Contracts Officer to manage open space / grounds maintenance services and to join one of our clients, a local District Council on an initial 5/6 month contract, with a view to be extended and potentially go permanent.
Role Overview:
- As a Contracts Officer / Contracts Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the district's parks, playgrounds, allotments, and cemetery grounds.
- You will ensure these public spaces are safe, attractive, and well-maintained for residents and visitors, supporting the council's commitment to high-quality outdoor environments.
- Oversee and monitor the performance of contractors delivering grounds maintenance services.
- Review and approve event applications for council-owned land.
- Audit, review, and report on playground inspections and related works.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to address issues promptly.
- Provide professional input to ensure safe, attractive, and well-maintained public spaces.
What we are looking for:
- Background in local authority, client-side, or public realm contract management.
- Contract mobilisation background / contract management.
- Strong knowledge of grounds maintenance operations and health & safety requirements.
- Confident in reviewing inspection reports and event applications.
- Proactive, hands-on approach to service delivery and quality assurance.
