This is an excellent opportunity to gain end-to-end exposure to the sales lifecycle, supporting bids and tendering for large-scale opportunities within our clients HAMM business. The ideal candidate will be passionate about engaging with customers, understanding their challenges, and have the ability to clearly articulate effective, technical value-driven solutions, together with a strong desire to develop into a Sales-focused role over the longer term.

The purpose of the Tendering Engineer is to:

  • Support the HAMM Sales Team in the creation and preparation of bids and proposals, including Expressions of Interest, Statements of Qualifications and Capability, Pre-Qualification Questionnaires and Tenders.
  • Take ownership of all incoming enquiries and formal notices.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of all bid documentation and systems necessary to support the Sales team and process and deliver a clear value proposition for positioning Stark as the 'go-to'/preferred bidder with the HAMM market.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Coordinate, capture and allocate all incoming enquiries and tender notices.
  • Examine and interpret customer's specifications & site drawings such as single line diagrams, key line diagram to demonstrate solutions to meet and exceed their requirements.
  • Collate the various inputs into the bid document for reviews with Sales Managers prior to customer submission.
  • Understand the rules for tendering, timescales and responsibilities.
  • Support bid/no-bid meetings, assisting with bid information.
  • Ensure timely management of all tender activities executing both the technical and quality deliverables to ensure a smooth running of the process.
  • Take ownership of scheduling regular meetings to ensure all key stakeholders are keeping to the programme.
  • Identify issues early and escalate to the Sales Manager, Head of HAMM Sales and the Head of the Bid Team as required.
  • Obtain feedback from all clients relating to both successful and unsuccessful bid submissions to improve future bids.
  • File, organise and maintain bid documentation and systems.

  • Develop strong relationships with all our clients divisions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and working practices.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required.

Competencies/Skills

  • You will be passionate and motivated.
  • Experience of working within a Tendering / Estimating / Bid Management / Project Management role is beneficial.
  • Dedication to the task, a desire to win and the ability to think around the total solution is essential with an imaginative and innovative approach to design and bid submissions.
  • Experience of working within the utilities / energy industry is desirable.
  • High level of competency with Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Keen eye for detail and production of high-quality work.
  • Extremely well organised and able to work to absolute deadlines planning work accordingly.
  • Ability to understand the Balancing and settlement code with respect to metering and grid code compliance including metering/monitoring requirements with bi-lateral connection agreements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the tender programme.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Very strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook and confident and accurate use of departmental computer systems/databases.
  • Capability to work with other software such as Visio, Adobe Indesign is desirable.

In return:

  • £45,000 - £55,000 Per annum
  • £2000 - £5000 Annual Bonus
  • Remote Working (1 day in Nottingham office for training maybe more then fully remote)
