I'm currently working with a leading plant hire business who are looking to appoint an experienced Workshop Fitter / Plant Mechanic / Heavy Plant Engineer at their Tamworth depot. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who has worked as a Plant Fitter, Workshop Engineer, Telescopic Handler Technician, Diesel Mechanic (plant background), Mobile Plant Engineer, or Construction Plant Fitter and is confident working on heavy equipment in a busy workshop environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • You'll be responsible for keeping a fleet of plant machinery safe, compliant, and ready for hire:
  • Carrying out Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs)
  • Completing LOLER inspections and statutory safety checks
  • Full servicing and planned maintenance of plant equipment
  • Fault finding, diagnostics, and mechanical/electrical repairs
  • Damage assessments and rapid turnaround of hire equipment
  • Ensuring machines are fully operational and hire-ready

What I'm Looking For

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Background as a Plant Fitter / Plant Mechanic / Heavy Plant Engineer / Workshop Technician
  • Strong experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and plant systems
  • Confident diagnosing faults rather than just replacing parts
  • Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Good communication skills
  • CSCS card advantageous but not essential
