Alecto Recruitment is working with an established Operator within the Power Generation sector who are actively looking for an Operations Technician to assist in running the facility via the DCS systems.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure plant operation and maintenance aligns with assigned targets, maintaining safety, environmental compliance, and statutory requirements while meeting operational demands.
- Monitor, inspect, and control plant parameters, performing appropriate first-line maintenance as required.
- Interpret plant operations and manage processes using general plant knowledge and data from the DCS.
- Respond effectively to operational requirements, achieving safe and efficient generation within prescribed limits during routine operations, anticipated deviations, and emergency situations.
- Perform plant system startups and shutdowns, and actively participate in emergency shutdown procedures.
- Identify and promptly report any plant defects, abnormalities, or observations that could impact process safety or deviate from normal operations.
- Execute routine plant duties to maintain commercial performance, reliability, and availability.
- Carry out assigned safety responsibilities, including implementing safe systems of work, authorizing personnel to work, and maintaining housekeeping standards.
- Support the Operations Supervisor and other designated personnel in projects and outage preparations.
- Oversee raw material offloading (road tanker fuel, oil, and Urea), ensuring proper storage, sampling, documentation, and compliance with Ofgem regulations.
- Complete necessary training to develop and maintain competence, including HV authorization under safe systems of work requirements.
- Maintain and develop documentation, records, and procedures in line with business and statutory requirements.
- Provide operational guidance and advice to other Operations team members.
- NVQ L3 or time served apprenticeship in an engineering or process discipline.
- Previous experience contributing to a continuous process/production/operational environment.
- First line maintenance experience.
- Able to follow procedures, systems & processes.
- Experience supporting planning & outage management.
- Fault finding, route cause analysis, problem solving, data monitoring.
- Able to make practical recommendations to continually improve operations.
- Knowledge and understanding of Safe System of Work processes & procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of Permit to work risk assessments & method statements.
