Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HVAC Engineer to join a growing and well-established building services company operating across Portsmouth, Hampshire, and the South Coast. The successful candidate will work across commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, and MOD environments carrying out installation, service, maintenance, and repair works on a wide range of HVAC equipment. Role Overview

As an HVAC Engineer, you will be responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive breakdowns, fault finding, servicing, commissioning, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. You will ensure all systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with current regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HVAC systems
  • Diagnose and repair faults on commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  • Service and maintain VRV/VRF systems, split systems, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, and ventilation systems
  • Install and commission HVAC equipment and associated pipework
  • Perform reactive maintenance and emergency breakdown response
  • Conduct F-Gas compliance testing and refrigerant leak detection
  • Replace compressors, motors, valves, sensors, controls, and electrical components
  • Complete system evacuations, pressure testing, and refrigerant charging
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety regulations and industry standards
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records, and risk assessments accurately
  • Liaise professionally with clients, site managers, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to customers regarding system performance and energy efficiency
  • Participate in on-call rota when required

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HVAC Engineer or Air Conditioning Engineer
  • F-Gas Category 1 Certification
  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration or equivalent
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience servicing commercial HVAC equipment
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • IPAF & PASMA certifications
  • CSCS Card
  • Experience with BMS systems
  • Experience within MOD, healthcare, or industrial sites

Working Hours
