Role and Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day leadership of the Operations Team
- Supporting the safe, legal, and compliant running of the facility
- Championing continuous improvement across operational performance
- Assisting with operational planning, coordination and front-line supervision
- Upholding health, safety, environmental and quality standards at all times
- Overseeing adherence to FCC Energy Division Safety Rules
- Leading incident investigations and helping implement preventative measures
- Collaborating with maintenance teams to optimise plant availability
- Managing contractors and specialist external support as required
- Contributing to operational budgeting and longer-term strategic planning
- Stepping up to cover the Operations Manager role when needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- A Level 3 Engineering qualification or above (ONC, NVQ, C&G or equivalent)
- A background in power generation, energy from waste or heavy industrial environments
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management capacity
- Solid knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice
- The ability to lead, inspire and develop a team
- Strong planning and problem-solving capabilities
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification (desirable)
- Experience as a Senior Authorised Person or Permit Issuer (desirable)
- Familiarity with thermal plant operations, permit systems and safety protocols (desirable)
