In this role, you’ll support our mission by learning to drive and operate a range of waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently, with a particular focus on hazardous clinical waste collections.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Daily vehicle checks — complete inspections and report defects in line with legal requirements.
- Compliance — follow tachograph legislation, WTD, SOPs, and Risk Assessments.
- Accurate reporting — report incidents, near misses, contaminated bins, and non‑conforming waste promptly and accurately.
- Vehicle upkeep — maintain vehicle cleanliness and complete weekly wheel‑nut torque checks.
- Safety standards — wear and maintain PPE/uniform to required Health & Safety standards.
- Customer service — provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
- Time & record management — ensure punctuality, accurate paperwork, and flexibility with working hours, including overtime when required.

What you’ll bring:
- LGV Class 2 licence (Category C), Driver Qualification Card (DQC), and digital tachograph card
- Class 1 (C+E) licence is desirable
- Experience operating waste collection vehicles is essential
- Experience with roll‑on/roll‑off, skip loaders, or front‑end loaders is an advantage (training provided)
- willingness to learn and apply new skills
- Positive, proactive attitude with strong interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service
- Basic understanding of Health & Safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret maps and directions accurately
- ADR certification is desirable (training available)
- Comfortable operating a variety of vehicle types and being multiskilled
