The Opportunity
As the site's
SHEQ Advisor , you'll take ownership of the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality management systems, ensuring legal compliance while driving a proactive safety culture across the operation.
Working closely with operational teams, you'll play a key role in reducing risk, improving performance and ensuring the business continues to meet the highest industry standards.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be responsible for
- Driving continuous improvement in Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance.
- Conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Supporting operational teams with safe systems of work, method statements and COSHH assessments.
- Leading or supporting accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Managing environmental permits, licences and regulatory compliance.
- Preparing for and supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits.
- Developing fire safety procedures and coordinating emergency evacuation exercises.
- Liaising with regulators, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Promoting behavioural safety initiatives and embedding a positive safety culture across the site.
Applications will only be considered from candidates with experience within the Waste & Recycling industry.
To be successful, you'll need
- A minimum of
5 years' SHEQ/HSEQ experience gained within waste management, recycling, resource recovery or environmental services .
- Strong working knowledge of Environmental Law, Building Regulations and relevant UK legislation.
- Experience managing ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Experience with RI&E and Management of Change (MOC).
- Proven experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- The confidence to influence operational teams and drive continuous improvement.
