An established and growing transport planning consultancy is seeking a Transport Planner to join its team. The role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of development-led projects, supporting planning applications through high-quality technical reporting, access design, and sustainable transport strategies.
You will gain exposure to projects spanning residential, mixed-use, education and commercial schemes, working closely with experienced colleagues and engaging directly with Local Authorities and design teams.
The Role
As a Transport Planner, you will support the delivery of transport planning services across all stages of development planning. Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the preparation of Transport Assessments and Transport Statements
- Preparing Travel Plans, including target setting and sustainable travel measures
- Undertaking site feasibility studies focusing on access, highways constraints and planning requirements
- Supporting the design of new site access arrangements in accordance with national and local standards
- Undertaking swept path analysis for service and delivery vehicles
- Contributing to Healthy Streets and active travel assessments
- Assisting with LCWIP-related studies and active travel network planning
- Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, Highway Authorities and project teams
- Analysing traffic, public transport and active travel data
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a UK transport planning consultancy environment
- Understanding of the planning system and highway approval processes
- Strong report writing and analytical skills
- Familiarity with transport planning software (e.g. TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions, GIS, AutoCAD)
- A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or related discipline
- Working towards professional membership (CIHT, TPS or equivalent) desirable
