A well‑established and growing transport & infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Transport Planner through to Principal level into its Birmingham office, offering the chance to work on a wide range of development and infrastructure projects across the UK.
The Opportunity
You’ll be joining a highly capable and collaborative team delivering transport planning services across:
- Residential and mixed‑use developments
- Commercial and logistics schemes
- Education and healthcare projects
- Urban regeneration and public sector developments
The consultancy operates across transport planning, highways design, drainage and environmental services, offering a fully integrated approach and exposure to the entire project lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to remain technically involved, while also taking on greater responsibility in project delivery, client interaction, and team development depending on your level.
The Role
As a Transport Planner / Senior / Principal, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans
- Undertaking junction capacity assessments and traffic modelling
- Supporting and leading projects from feasibility through to planning and delivery
- Liaising with clients, local authorities and project teams
- Managing multiple projects and ensuring high‑quality technical delivery
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members
- Contributing to client relationships and business growth (Senior/Principal level)
What We're Looking For
- Experience within transport planning, ideally in a consultancy environment
- Strong experience preparing Transport Assessments and technical reports
- Experience with modelling software such as Junctions 9 (ARCADY / PICADY), LinSig / TRANSYT / VISSIM / SATURN (beneficial depending on level)
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage workload and deliver projects to deadlines
For Senior / Principal Candidates
- Experience leading projects and reviewing technical work
- Ability to manage client relationships and project delivery
- Experience mentoring or managing junior staff
- Commercial awareness and contribution to team growth
