12-Month Contract | Major Aviation Infrastructure Programme
I'm currently supporting a leading multidisciplinary consultancy delivering a major transformation programme at Stansted Airport, and they're looking to appoint multiple Project Engineers on a 12-month contract basis. These roles sit across a range of projects within the programme, with opportunities on both design-focused packages and site-based delivery works. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a high-profile aviation environment with complex interfaces and stakeholders.
The Role
- Managing design coordination, including review of contractor drawings and SME input via systems such as Aconex, ensuring timely close-out of comments.
- Responding to technical queries related to contractor design and supporting resolution with contractors.
- Overseeing on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Identifying defects and non-conformances (NCRs), monitoring close-out actions, and escalating issues where required.
- Reviewing and accepting contractor permit submissions in line with site requirements.
- Supporting Construction Managers by assisting contractors in removing delivery constraints and blockers.
- Liaising with stakeholders, including the Airfield Change Manager, to ensure smooth execution of works.
- Monitoring reported progress and validating this against actual site activity.
- Providing technical input on construction methodologies and sequencing.
- Reviewing contractor documentation including RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, and CEMPs.
- Supporting the Project Manager with Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and Compensation Events (CEs), including validation of contractor claims.
About You
- A strong civil engineering background, with experience in groundworks and piling.
- Experience in structural works, including steel frame buildings, bridges, and heavy lifting operations.
- Exposure to fit-out projects, ideally within aviation or transport infrastructure.
- Experience managing design coordination and technical reviews.
- Familiarity with document control systems such as Aconex.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to be site-based at Stansted Airport up to three days per week.
Previous airport experience is highly desirable, though candidates from other complex infrastructure or regulated environments are also encouraged to apply.
