Senior Transport Planner – Development Planning (Bristol)
A growing transport consultancy is launching a new office in Bristol and is seeking a Senior Transport Planner to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport professional to contribute to a range of development projects while helping establish a new regional presence.
We are looking for candidates with around four to eight years\’ experience in transport development planning, either in consultancy or within a local authority, who are looking to take on increased responsibility and broaden their exposure to multi-disciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and technical contributions to Environmental Statement chapters
- Using Junctions 10 and LinSig software to model and analyse traffic scenarios
- Applying highway design standards such as MfS, DMRB, LTN 1/20, and guidance from Active Travel England and Healthy Streets
- Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams on residential, commercial, retail, and leisure development projects
- Supporting client engagement and building professional relationships with Highway Authorities
- Assisting in project planning, monitoring budgets, and contributing to fee proposals
- Mentoring and guiding junior staff, sharing knowledge and best practice
Skills and Experience
- Strong technical and analytical transport planning expertise
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present findings to clients and stakeholders
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines across multiple projects
- Membership (or progress towards membership) with TPS, CIHT, or CILT is desirable
This position provides the chance to work on a varied and stimulating portfolio of development projects while playing an integral role in building a new office from the ground up.
The consultancy supports staff development with formal training programmes, a bespoke mentoring scheme, and funding for two professional memberships.
