Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: Tunbridge Wells Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic and growing consultancy with a strong pipeline of work across a variety of sectors. This role is ideal for a driven individual who is either Chartered or close to achieving Chartered status, and is looking to take the lead on complex projects while mentoring junior staff. Key Responsibilities: You will be expected to confidently lead the commercial delivery of multiple projects with minimal supervision, overseeing other surveying staff when required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Establishing and interpreting client requirements for cost planning and project delivery. Providing accurate cost planning and value engineering advice across RIBA design stages. Advising on procurement strategies, contract selection and preparation of procurement reports. Leading the preparation and review of tender and contract documentation, including Bills of Quantities. Assessing tenders and identifying commercial risks for clients. Monitoring and reporting on project costs and variations Valuing completed works and arranging interim payments in accordance with contract terms. Preparing detailed and accurate project reports. Handling contractual claims and advising on dispute resolution strategies. Drafting contractual notices and advising clients on claim procedures and strategy. Attending and leading project meetings, including those involving challenging discussions. Managing variation registers, risk logs and CVRs. Preparing and agreeing final accounts confidently.Leadership & Development Responsibilities: Supporting junior team members, including those working toward APC. Acting as APC Supervisor when required. Sharing relevant learning materials and promoting continuous professional development across the team. Identifying and developing new business opportunities with existing or potential clients. Attending networking events and building relationships to support long-term business growth. Ensuring accurate and detailed time recording for all project-related work. Working toward personal fee recovery of 2.5x cost to the business and contributing to project profitability.Essential Requirements: Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline Significant knowledge of construction techniques, principles and building economics. Proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented. Excellent IT and report-writing skills. Confident in high-pressure or complex project situations. A full UK driving licence.Desirable Attributes: MRICS qualified. Experience using CostX or similar measurement software Background in both building and civil engineering projects Experience working for both consultancies and contractors.
