Some projects just tick boxes. Others change skylines. My client works on the latter.
They are a London-based construction consultancy trusted with complex, high-profile schemes across the capital - projects where clarity, leadership and judgement matter as much as programmes and spreadsheets. They are now looking for a Senior Project Manager who knows how to take ownership, not just instructions.
The role
This is a hands-on leadership position. You will be the calm centre of the project - the person clients trust, teams listen to and problems come to before they escalate.
You will lead projects from early strategy through to delivery, balancing commercial awareness with technical confidence and strong client relationships. Expect variety, autonomy and the chance to genuinely shape outcomes rather than just report on them.
What you will be doing
- Taking full responsibility for the successful delivery of construction projects across London
- Acting as the main client interface - advising, challenging and guiding when needed
- Managing consultants, contractors and stakeholders to keep projects moving forward
- Driving programmes, risk management, cost control and quality standards
- Spotting issues early and resolving them pragmatically
- Mentoring junior team members and contributing to a collaborative culture
What they are looking for
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within a consultancy or client-side environment
- A strong understanding of construction delivery in the UK market
- Confidence managing multiple stakeholders and complex project dynamics
- Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and interpersonal
- Commercial awareness and sound professional judgement
- Chartered status (MRICS / MAPM / MCIOB or similar) is preferred but not essential
Why this consultancy?
- A grown-up environment that values trust over micromanagement
- Interesting, well-structured projects rather than volume for volume's sake
- Clear progression for people who want responsibility, not just a job title
- A supportive senior team who are still actively involved in delivery
If you are a Senior Project Manager who enjoys leading from the front and wants to work somewhere your experience actually counts, this is worth a conversation.
