I am working with a highly regarded building services consultancy that is looking to expand its design team through the appointment of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. This role would suit an experienced engineer who is keen to take ownership of medium–sized projects and play a key client–facing role in the development, design, and coordination of mechanical engineering solutions. My client is looking for someone with broad sector experience, a strong understanding of industry standards, and the ambition to progress both technically and commercially.

The successful candidate will be expected to build strong client relationships, contribute to the wider design team, and take a proactive approach to delivering high–quality engineering projects. You will be supported in your ongoing professional development and encouraged to work towards chartered status if not already achieved.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing design plans, specifications, and schedules of work
  • Producing technical reports to support design concepts in line with best practice and relevant standards
  • Liaising closely with multidisciplinary design teams
  • Inspecting installations and reviewing progress, quality, and performance testing
  • Advising clients and design teams on operation and ongoing maintenance requirements
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered status or actively working towards it, with evidence of CPD
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations, British and European Standards
  • Experience across a variety of sectors such as commercial, retail, industrial, or data centres
Desirable
  • Membership of CIBSE or the Institution of Mechanical Engineers
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Revit/Navisworks, IES, and SBEM
  • Understanding of BREEAM principles
