I'm working with a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that is looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer to join its Edinburgh team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highways and infrastructure engineer to work on a varied portfolio of major infrastructure, highway and energy schemes across the UK, while taking on greater responsibility for project delivery, technical quality and junior team members.
The consultancy operates across civil and structural engineering alongside planning, development, geotechnical, environmental, transport, ports and harbours, and water services, providing engineers with strong multidisciplinary exposure.
The Role
- You'll be involved in the development and delivery of both conceptual and detailed designs across major infrastructure, highway and energy projects.
- Lead elements of project design and delivery, taking responsibility for technical output, programmes and deliverables.
- Develop highway and infrastructure designs in accordance with relevant UK standards, including DMRB requirements.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, statutory bodies and consultees including local authorities, Transport Scotland, NatureScot and SEPA.
- Provide technical guidance and checking, while mentoring and supporting more junior engineers.
- Attend design and site progress meetings and contribute to project management and delivery.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working within highways and infrastructure design, ideally within a consultancy environment.
- Strong understanding of DMRB design standards and specifications.
- Experience using Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, PDS Signs/Lines or similar design software.
- Experience working on major infrastructure, highways or energy schemes would be highly relevant.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take responsibility for technical delivery and client requirements.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status with ICE, CIHT or another relevant professional institution.
