In this role you will lead and deliver a broad range of Building Surveying services within a growing Bristol team. You will manage projects through from inception to handover, nurture key client relationships, and contribute to the firm’s growth strategy. The position blends hands-on technical work with leadership, client management, and business development in a multidisciplinary, high-profile environment. You’ll shape the Bristol Building Surveying offering and collaborate across disciplines to solve complex client challenges.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a broad range of Building Surveying and consultancy services
- Manage projects from inception through to completion and handover
- Undertake and oversee building surveys and technical assessments
- Take responsibility for key projects and high-profile client accounts
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Identify opportunities for repeat business and support new work generation
- Prepare scopes, fee proposals, tenders and contractual documentation
- Contribute to bids and new business with marketing and BD teams
- Manage project workloads, resources and service delivery
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues in the team
- Mentor and develop less experienced surveyors
- Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver joined-up client solutions
- Support development and growth of the Bristol Building Surveying offering
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, legislation and best practice
Key requirements
- MRICS or FRICS status or working towards Chartered membership
- Significant experience in Building Surveying and consultancy
- Strong track record from project inception to completion
- Experience across professional Building Surveying and project delivery
- Strong client management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commercial awareness (scopes, fees, tenders, profitability)
- Ability to identify opportunities and contribute to business development
- Experience mentoring or developing other Building Surveyors
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment
- Proactive with confidence to operate at senior client level
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
