We are looking for an experienced Project Director to lead a major critical infrastructure programme involving complex heavy civil engineering and large-scale structural works. This role is suited to someone who thrives in demanding environments and brings self-delivery experience.

The Role

You will take full ownership of a high-value, multi-disciplinary programme with significant structural components including reinforced concrete, fibre reinforced concrete and other heavy civil engineering packages. The project operates within a highly regulated environment, requiring disciplined planning, strong governance and confident leadership across safety, quality and compliance. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for driving delivery, shaping culture and ensuring performance across contractors, stakeholders and internal teams. You will be the person who sets the tone, brings structure and ensures the programme moves with clarity and control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of major structural and heavy civil engineering works within a complex, regulated infrastructure programme
  • Provide strategic direction, programme assurance and disciplined project controls
  • Manage subcontractors, ensuring alignment, accountability and high-quality delivery
  • Oversee safety, compliance and regulatory engagement across all work fronts
  • Build and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration and delivery excellence
  • Drive progress through clear communication, structured planning and decisive leadership
  • Manage interfaces, risks, dependencies and stakeholder expectations at senior level

Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Project Director or senior project leader on major infrastructure programmes
  • Background delivering with both Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors
  • Strong technical understanding of heavy structures including reinforced concrete, fibre reinforced concrete and complex civil engineering
  • Experience delivering in highly regulated environments such as nuclear, energy, rail, defence, water or aviation
  • Demonstrable ability to lead teams, manage complex interfaces and drive performance
  • Comfortable lodging during the week due to project location and delivery demands
