We're supporting a leading specialist civil engineering and reinforced concrete contractor with the appointment of a Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team. The business delivers complex RC frame, groundworks and structural packages across high-profile projects in the South West. This role offers the opportunity to take commercial ownership of major packages on technically demanding schemes, working within a well-structured and experienced commercial function.
The Role
- Reporting into a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the full commercial lifecycle of your project(s), from procurement through to final account.
- Key duties include:
- Managing subcontract procurement and package buy-out
- Administering contracts (NEC predominantly, JCT where applicable)
- Valuations, variations, change control and cost reporting
- Producing and managing CVRs and forecasts
- Leading subcontractor negotiations and final accounts
- Liaising closely with operational teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
You will have responsibility for significant project values and will play a key role in protecting margin and managing risk.
About You
- Proven experience as a Senior QS or strong Project QS ready to step up
- Background in civil engineering, groundworks or RC frame environments
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
- Commercially astute with strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Comfortable managing projects with minimal supervision
- Degree qualified (Quantity Surveying or equivalent) preferred
