A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a major highways programme across the North West. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established project team on a significant civil engineering project, taking responsibility for key commercial activities from project delivery through to final account.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and operational teams, you will play a pivotal role in managing project costs, maximising value recovery, administering NEC contracts, and ensuring strong commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the commercial performance of highways and civil engineering projects
  • Produce and maintain CVRs, forecasts, and commercial reports
  • Administer subcontract accounts from procurement through to final account
  • Manage compensation events, variations, and change control processes
  • Review and administer NEC contracts
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment
  • Monitor project cash flow and commercial performance
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
  • Support project teams with contractual and commercial advice
  • Ensure accurate reporting and forecasting throughout project delivery
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within highways or civil engineering
  • Strong NEC contract knowledge and administration experience
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts and change control processes
  • Proven ability to produce CVRs, forecasts, and commercial reports
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure project delivery
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously within a project environment
