We're partnering with a well-established, design-led engineering consultancy based in Norwich, recognised for its technical excellence, collaborative culture and innovative approach to engineering. With a growing portfolio of major projects across the residential, retail, logistics and technology sectors, they are continuing to expand their civil engineering capabilities and are now looking to appoint a Principal / Associate Civil Engineer to play a senior role within the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineer who is looking to take greater ownership of projects, build strong client relationships and have a genuine influence on the direction and development of a growing team. You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from early-stage feasibility and due diligence through to detailed design and delivery, while also providing technical leadership and supporting the continued development of the civil engineering team.

The Role

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe
  • Provide technical leadership across highways, drainage, flood risk, utilities and infrastructure design
  • Take responsibility for the quality, programme and commercial performance of projects
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines
  • Review and approve technical reports, drawings, specifications and detailed design packages
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to engineers across the team
  • Take an active role in project planning, programming, resourcing and fee management
  • Contribute to bids, fee proposals and business development opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships and generate new work
  • Support the continued growth and development of the civil engineering team
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant standards, regulations and best practice
  • Represent the business at client meetings, project meetings and industry events where appropriate

What We're Looking For

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Significant experience within a civil infrastructure design consultancy
  • Strong technical knowledge across highways, drainage, flood risk and infrastructure design
  • Experience leading projects and providing technical direction to other engineers
  • Strong understanding of the commercial and contractual aspects of consultancy projects
  • Proven experience managing client relationships and working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD and BIM workflows
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent professional qualification
  • Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills
  • Commercially aware with the ability to identify opportunities and contribute to business development
  • Confident managing your own workload while providing leadership and support to others
  • Experience in Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies and due diligence
  • Familiarity with Eurocodes and international project stages such as RIBA/HOAI would be advantageous
  • Willingness to travel occasionally across Europe
