Up to £65,000 + progression | Permanent
Looking for your next step as a QS?
Want more ownership, more responsibility, and real exposure to projects?
Ready to move beyond support work and start shaping commercial delivery?
An established M&E contractor is growing its commercial team following a recent change. They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a few years' experience who is ready to step into a broader, more accountable role.
This is an urgent requirement, so candidates on short notice (or immediately available) are highly desirable.

The role

    • Manage commercial aspects of projects from start to finish
    • Work closely with the Commercial Lead while developing autonomy
    • Office based near Hitchin, with site visits across London / South East
    • Exposure to varied projects - not siloed or repetitive work

What we're looking for
This role is ideal for someone who already has a strong QS foundation and is looking to step up and take ownership.

You will bring:

  • Solid experience in cost control, budgeting and reporting
  • Hands-on involvement in valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Experience supporting or leading subcontractor procurement and management
  • Understanding of contract administration
  • Ability to track project performance and flag commercial risks
  • Strong numerical accuracy with clear, confident communication
  • M&E experience would be great but not essential

But most importantly:

  • A mindset geared towards progression and accountability
  • Confidence to take on more responsibility with the right support

Why this role:

  • Direct mentorship from an experienced Commercial Lead
  • Opportunity to step into a more project lead role quickly
  • Join a business where your contribution is visible and valued
  • A genuine chance to grow during a key transition in the team
  • No layers, no politics - Direct influence
  • Up to £65,000 basic for the right person

If you feel ready to move from 'supporting' to owning your work and progressing your career, this is a strong next step.
