We are representing a well-established civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex groundworks and infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to sustained growth in their London and South East operations, they are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the commercial delivery of major schemes across London and the surrounding areas.
The Role
- Take commercial responsibility for significant groundworks packages on large-scale infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
- Work closely with project and site teams while providing leadership and commercial assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the commercial management of groundworks packages from pre-contract through to final account.
- Procure, negotiate, and manage sub-contractor and supplier packages.
- Prepare and agree valuations, forecasts, and cost/value reconciliations.
- Produce and submit applications for payment, variations, and contractual claims.
- Manage change control processes, including Compensation Events under NEC contracts.
- Provide commercial input to project strategy and risk management.
- Support and mentor junior commercial staff where required.
- Ensure full compliance with contractual terms and internal commercial governance.
About You
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Proven experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level within civil engineering or groundworks contracting.
- Strong understanding of groundworks packages on infrastructure or major construction projects.
- Solid contractual and commercial knowledge, with NEC experience highly advantageous.
- Confident leading procurement, subcontract management, and cost reporting.
- Well organised, commercially astute, and comfortable working across multiple stakeholders.
- Willing and able to work on projects across London and the surrounding regions.
