A growing and established building-services engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its London team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanical engineer who wants to take real ownership of projects, work directly with clients and play an important role within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. The business delivers engineering solutions across a broad range of building projects, with a strong focus on quality, practical design, sustainability and long-term client relationships.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical building-services designs from concept through to completion.
You will:
- Lead mechanical design packages across a variety of projects.
- Develop HVAC, heating, ventilation and associated mechanical systems.
- Produce calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
- Coordinate designs with electrical, public health and other disciplines.
- Work closely with architects, contractors, clients and project teams.
- Attend design meetings, client meetings and site visits.
- Review technical work and provide guidance to junior engineers.
- Manage technical deliverables and contribute to project programmes.
- Support fee proposals, tenders and business-development opportunities.
- Ensure designs meet relevant UK standards, regulations and best practice.
- Help deliver efficient, sustainable and commercially viable engineering solutions.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong experience within a UK building-services consultancy.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Proven experience designing mechanical systems for buildings.
- Good knowledge of UK regulations, standards and industry guidance.
- Experience delivering projects through multiple design stages.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- The ability to manage your own workload and take responsibility for project delivery.
- A proactive and commercially aware approach.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers
